Hamirpur, Sep 24 (TIWN) Voter turnout in bypoll for Hamirpur assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh was recorded to be 51 per cent, said the district election office.
Last time the voter turnout was recorded to be 63.69 per cent. Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Arvind Kumar Pandey said that 51 per cent polling took place in the bypoll to Hamirpur Assembly constituency amid rain.
Counting of votes will take place on September 27. Initially the polling was slow due to rain and some reports of technical faults in EVMs as till 9 a.m. only 5.60 per cent polling was recorded which gradually rose to 13.63 per cent by 11 a.m. and by 1 p.m. it went to increase to 22.9 per cent. By 3 p.m. the polling increased to 32.95 per cent whereas by 5 p.m. it was recorded to be 42.05 per cent. The authorities made arrangements of boats to ferry the voters from the flood affected villages to the polling booths.
