Kevadia (Gujrat) Sep 17 (TIWN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 69 on Tuesday. He is in his home state for the day as Gujarat has planned a day of fanfare, prayers, and rallies.
While he will likely begin the with a visit to his mother in Ahmedabad, Modi is also expected to discuss development projects in Gujarat during his day-long visit. Last year, Modi was in Varanasi, his constituency, to celebrate his birthday. Though Modi stays away from birthday celebrations, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked all its 303 Members of Parliament (MPs) and 78 MPs in Rajya Sabha to spend the day in their constituency. BJP leaders have been asked to celebrate the week as ‘Sewa Saptah’ starting 14 September. Senior leaders have also decided to spend the day urging people to stop using single-use plastic, organising cleanliness drives and to help people, especially those who are not in the best of health.
