New Delhi, June 9 (TIWN): The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested a man from Delhi for sharing an "objectional" post on social media that was about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The man, identified as Prashant Kanaujia, has been booked under charges of defamation and transmitting indecent material in electronic form. According to his social media accounts, Prashant was earlier associated with some media organisations.

Kanaujia was arrested over a video he shared on his Twitter and Facebook profiles. The video shows a woman repeatedly expressing her desire to marry Yogi Adityanath. According to the police, Prashant Kanaujia's comment on the video had maligned the image of the chief minister.

An FIR was registered against him at the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow by sub inspector Ashok Gupta posted in the cyber cell department.

According to Suresh Chandra Rawat, SP East Lucknow, "An FIR was registered against Prashant for spreading false information and misusing the social media. He has been booked under section 67 of the information technology act, 500 and 505 of the IPC."
