New Delhi, May 6 (IANS) The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Monday urged the central government to be pro-active in providing assistance to cyclone-battered Odisha which it said had reportedly killed over 50 people in Odisha.
The CC official communique has stressed that while the party will contest “some seats” in the forthcoming assembly polls it will “campaign to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the rest of the seats,” which indirectly meant aiding the Congress in its direct fight against BJP in the seats.
Since the CPM is not a significant player in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan — where the Congress has not formed an alliance — CPM will contest some seats in alliance with smaller parties even while trying to persuade the Rajasthan Congress to leave a couple of seats for it.
