Agartala, Feb 13 (TIWN): In a significant development, Keithelmanbi Battalion Assam Rifles alongwith Imphal West Commandos arrested an active cadre of UNLF who was involved in the two grenade blasts which took place on 07 February 2019 at Mapal Kangjeibung Polo Ground, Imphal, that left three soldiers of Keithelmanbi Batallion Assam Rifles and one civilian injured.
Massive operations were launched by Security Forces and intelligence was beefed up after the blasts. Speed and alacrity with which the forces responded to the blasts took the UGs by surprise and the suspected cadre was apprehended from the area of Keirao Bitra of Imphal East. He has been identified as Yumlembam Khelen Singh @ Yairemba, a self Styled Corporal of UNLF.
UNLF had claimed the responsibility of the grenade attack. Relentless joint operations are in progress to apprehend other suspected UGs involved in the incident to bring them to justice. This apprehension has further strengthened the resolve of security Forces to fight the inimical elements in order to safeguard the peace and security in the state and bring the perpetrators of violence to justice.
