New Delhi, Feb 7 (TIWN): Centre is reportedly planning to strip medals and honous conferred on the IPS officers who participated in the three-day-long ‘dharna’ or ‘sit-in protest’ with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, which she ended on Tuesday. The Union government has also decided to bar the said officers from central deputation, sources said.
Taking a dim view of serving officers of uniformed forces taking part in the dharna organised by a political party, the Ministry of Home Affairs has reportedly asked the West Bengal government to take action against such officers. The Home Ministry's letter to the state government was reportedly sent after West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi submitted his report to the Centre on the standoff between Mamata Banerjee government and the CBI.
