Los Angeles, May 29 (TIWN) Awkwafina and Karen Gillan, who worked together in "Jumanji: The Next Level", co-star again in the upcoming action-comedy "Shelly".
Jude Weng directs the film from a script by Michael Doneger and Liz Storm, reports deadline.com.
Awkwafina will take on the role of Shelly and Gillan will be seen as her former high school bully, who she befriends a decade later.
The story takes place a decade after an embarrassing prom prank makes Shelly Wheeler (essayed by Awkwafina) leave town, following which she becomes "an ice-cold hit-woman". After many years, she meets Dianna Park (Gillan) and unexpectedly befriends her and tries to protect her from another hit crew, which has been hired to kill them both.
Doneger and Ian Bryce, known for "6 Underground", are producing the project with Will McCance executive producing and Katie Malott co-producing.
Awkwafina recently got great praise for her film "The Farewell", and Gillan is known for her role as Nebula in the "Guardians Of The Galaxy" films as well as "Avengers: Endgame".
