New Delhi, Feb 16 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that reforms in India are now being done out of conviction rather than compulsion.
Addressing the ninth edition of the ET NOW Global Business Summit held at the Taj Palace in New Delhi, he took a veiled dig at Congress, suggesting that India's progress might have been different if his government had not come to power in 2014.
"I sometimes wonder what would have happened if people had not blessed us in 2014... The country was running even before. The speed of development under Congress and the speed of Congress' corruption—these were things the country was witnessing. If that had continued, an important period in the country's history would have been wasted," Modi said.
