BENGALURU, March 4 : In a big boost to Karnataka, and good news to the governing BJP ahead of elections, the has managed to secure a whopping 700 million dollar investment by way of electronics manufacturing giants Foxconn announcing the setting up of a mega Apple phones manufacturing industry on the outskirts of Bengaluru in a 300 acre space.

Foxconn’s entry to Karnataka will mean it will be the second vendor for Apple who will be manufacturing iphones and other Apple products.
The other major Apple manufacturing vendor, Wistron, has already set up shop in Kolar and has been manufacturing iPhones for the last five years. Both Foxconn and Wistron are considered Apple original design manufacturers (ODM).
Quoting reports, union minister of state for information technology Rajeev Chandrasekar tweeted, quoting news reports, stating: “Apple phones to be built in a new 300 acre factory in #Karnataka. Double Engine Sarkar of PM Narendra Modi ji and chief minister Basavaraj Bommai working to create investments and jobs and 1 Trillion Dollar Economy for Karnataka.”

The same was then followed up with chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, reiterating the “double engine” poll pitch, and said that under the guidance of prime minister Narendra Modi, we will do our share to make India a 5 trillion dollar economy.
“Apple phones to be built in the state soon. Apart from creating about 100,000 jobs, it will create a whole lot of opportunities for Karnataka. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji, we will do our share to make India a $5 trillion economy by 2025,” said Bommai on social media.
The industries department in a release said that a 16 member leadership team from Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) came to Bengaluru on Friday for site inspection at the proposed area.
