Skoda Auto inaugurates its largest India workshop in Tamil Nadu

New Delhi, May 10 : Skoda Auto India, in association with SGA Cars India, today unveiled its largest workshop in the country at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The facility is spread over an area of 49,585 square foot or 4,607 square metre. Boasting of 50 bays, the workspace has a capacity to serve 20,000 vehicles per annum, with over 40 dedicated aftersales personnel.

The new Skoda workshop, which is in line with Skoda's new corporate identity and design, was inaugurated by Skoda Auto India Director for Sales, Service and Marketing Zac Hollis and SGA Cars India Dealer Principal S Arputharaj. Skoda aims to increase the accessibility of the brand by doubling its dealer network across fifty new cities over the next three years under the 'India 2.0' project.
 
Located on the Uppilipalayam main road in Sowripalayam in Coimbatore, the new Skoda workshop houses rainwater harvesting facilities, contributing to the 'Green Future' vision of the company.
 
Skoda Auto is aiming to strengthen its position in Tamil Nadu and push forward its campaign of establishing a strong foothold in the southern markets of India, with the inauguration of its modern workshop facility in Coimbatore.
 
"Skoda Auto India is set to strengthen its presence in the southern markets of our nation. The dimensions of the new facility are a reflection of the region's potential for the brand. We are confident that our partnership with SGA Cars India will play an important role, in scaling up the brand, by offering our patrons a hassle-free ownership experience and utmost peace of mind," Hollis said.

Currently, Skoda Auto India has four cars in its portfolio -- Rapid, Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq. The company is offering six years of hassle-free ownership experience of its cars, along with other facilities, under its 'Shield Plus' initiative. Expectations are that Skoda Kamiq might be launched in India in 2020.
