Life in England beyond the surgical ward | During Chrismas '62 two of my colleagues and myself, who were on duty in emergency caught a lethal viral infection of the liver while treating & dialysing a comatosed patient.Among us three, one died,the second survived after exchange transfusion but became a cripple and the third i.e. me went upto hepatic coma but was revived my physician colleagues. The very considerate hospital board, granted 3 months of leave with full salary plus the states sickness benefit with the assurance that after 3 month I could walk back. | 27-Jan-2014 |

Life in England beyond the surgical ward | It was 1962, month of December when snowing was so much that proverbial white Christmas came to England. It was 1 to 2 feet deep outside the hall where we danced and sang the Carol to welcome the Christmas. In England – it was off duty during the Christmas and Boxing day but kept myself busy in the Causality and the OT helping the other surgical colleagues who were on duty and were overwhelmed by the Surgical and trauma cases streaming in. | 26-Jan-2014 |
Unakoti: Will UNESCO take it up as a her | Aravind Adiga, a Men booker prize winner came to Tripura in the month of November in a short trip. He went back with a regret that he could not visit Unakoti. He sent me a mail – “I told many of my friends that anybody going to Tripura must see Unakotiâ€. Unakoti, its name meaning one less than a crore, dating back to the 8th or 9th century, is one of the biggest bas relief sculptures in India of gods and goddesses of Hindu mythology and scenes depicting the life of Lord Shiva. | 11-Jan-2014 |
