AGARTALA, Nov 24 (TIWN): Outrages against Tripura journalist’s murder have been continuing across Northeast states and also in others states of India. On Friday, journalists of Assam under ‘Journalists Association of Assam’ held a protest rally, walked towards secretariat demanding safety, security of the journalists from Assam Govt. Assam journalists agitated, ‘Every months, here and there the journalist are killed, whereas no proper investigation could be done in any of those cases. Tripura witnessed barbaric killing of TV journalist Santanu Bhaumik on Sep 20. When Tripura couldn’t come out of the shocks then another senior journalist Subir Datta Bhaumik was killed by state rifles, just because he exposed the corruption of TSR Commandant". The journalists association demanded implementation of 'Journalist Protection Act', for the sake of journalists' security.
Assam journalists claimed the increasing attacks upon journalists a breakage of 'democracy' and 'Freedom of Speech' and at the same attack upon the 4th pillar of democracy.
On the other side, senior journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik’s murder is turning heavy upon the CPI-M Govt as Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has finally becoming popular with record level of journalist killing. Manik Sarkar's effigy was burnt by journalists at Guwahati on Nov 22, oneday after Sudip Datta Bhaumik’s murder. The journalist at their under various forums have demanded Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s immediate resignation under whose regime 2 journalists have been killed in Tripura within 2 months.
The journalists have claimed it’s a major on democracy and freedom of speech.
Apart from that Tripura is now coming in national media for killing its 2 journalist in last 2 months.
Along with Tripura, agitations have been seen across the Nation following the shot dead of Sudip Datta Bhaumik by TSR jawan.
Across India various states are sending condemnation letter to Tripura media houses calling it a major attack on the 4th pillar of democracy.
Not only this, Tripura’s journalist killing-series raised at London, Amnesty International condemns attack upon ‘Freedom of Speech’.
