AGARTALA, Nov 1 (TIWN): It was Congress to bring strong allegations against Jiten Das for murdering his wife Kalpana Das, but again Congress leader in Adv uniform Pijush Biswas said, "Jiten Das was politically targeted".

Total 44 persons were managed for witness, said Jiten Das's Adv. Pijush Biswas.

"It was totally a pre-planned murder to hit Jiten Das", said Biswas.

Kalpana's death stirred the political and non-political circles in the Left-ruled Tripura a year back. Jitendra Das, his two younger brother and nephew were arrested by police earlier in connection with the murder of 62-year-old Kalpana Das, who was a retired employee of Tripura police department.

Jitendra Das,was the former Sabhadhipati (president) of Paschim Zilla Parishad until July 2014 and a senior leader of the CPI-M Sadar sub-divisional committee.

Later, Tripura Govt constituted SIT to prove the murder took place in 2015. She was found dead at their home at Ranir Bazar with severe injuries on her body, cut with sharp knife.

Along with Jiten Das, his brother Atindra Das and nephew Shivdutta Das were also acquitted in the murder case.
