AGARTALA, July 21 (TIWN): Opposition CPI-M demanded a judicial probe in DGP Anurag Dhankar’s unnatural death incident.
According to opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury, DGP was a strong man and can not commit suicide at least. He asserted that because of political pressure there is an unnatural situation hovering over the police department and other departments. Chowdhury said a judicial investigation under the Chief Justice is required for a fair investigation.
Though his family members have yet to react, the opposition demanded a judicial investigation into the case, accusing the ruling Govt of pressurising IAS, IPS officers extremely for the last many years.
The DGP’s body was found hanging in his own office at the police headquarters.
The Chief Minister reacted stating — “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic demise of Anurag, IPS, Director General of Police, Tripura, who was found hanging in the washroom of his official chamber today.”
“Upon receiving the information, I, along with the Chief Secretary and Home Secretary, immediately visited the Police Headquarters. He was promptly shifted to AGMC & GBP Hospital, where the attending doctors, after examination, declared him ‘brought dead’.”
“I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family during this hour of profound grief. May the departed soul rest in peace, and may the family find strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss,” CM said.
