Agartala, August 3 (TIWN): Malaria struck back on Sunday with yet another death from the parasite. A highly placed source in the Department of Health and Family Welfare today said that one Khamayanti Reang (13), daughter of Nataram Reang from Tabjiraipara of Damcherra in North Tripura district was reported dead. She died at the Damcherra Primary Health Centre (PHC) while undergoing treatmenton Sunday, the source said.
The total figure of malaria infected people across the state stayed within the normal range today, the source said. Average daily fresh malaria infected population figures came down from 1,000 and continued to remain below 400 for the past two weeks. Out of 1,479 fever patients who underwent blood tests at different hospitals and healthcare institutions of the state today, 347 were reported to have been infected with the malaria parasite.
A total of 186 patients were admitted in different healthcare centers of the state on Sunday; 186 among them were confirmed to have contacted malaria.
The total figure of malaria infected population identified since the inception of largescale institutional treatment and diagnosis after the initial outbreak of malaria today crossed 43 thousand 695.
There were no reports of Japanese Encephalitis or dengue reported from anywhere in the state. A source in the sub-divisional administration, however, said that the authorities are taking all necessary measures to make sure that no further escalation of the situation came by.
Four persons were identified to have contacted Japanese Encephalitis across the state this year till date. Three of them were treated, cured and sent back home, Health Minister Badal Choudhury said. The lone Japanese Encephalitis patient is now undergoing treatment at the GB Hospital, he added.
The health department doesn’t have any report of dengue outbreak anywhere in the state, the minister informed.
