AGARTALA, Aug 2 (TIWN): Acute shortage of blood is prevailing in GBP & IGM hospital, officials admit it today though every next day blood donation camp has been organized throughout the State. According to health officials, most of the bloods are transfused from GBP & IGM hospital’s blood bank to the Nursing Homes at Rs 850 per packet. Though the State Government instructed the Nursing Homes to organize blood donation camps to meet the needs of GBP &IGM Hospital, the result remains unfruitful.
The Member Secretary of Blood Bank Board Brajadulal Saha said that repeatation letter had been sent again to the Nursing Homes. Even bloods are also sent to the TMC & ILS Hospital inspite they have blood banks. So, naturally there arises acute shortage of blood.
So, the patient party has to look out for the blood in order to manage the blood for their near and dear ones. Every college, educational institutions, clubs & Government offices organized blood donation camps every month. But when the patient needs blood the blood banks gets empty.
Even when they have requisition form with them they came out empty handed. They had to arrange donor for them. In the case of district patients the condition appears to be more critical. The accident patients even die because of the shortage of blood
