AGARTALA, Aug 1 (TIWN): The state government is contemplating to operationalize a Law Training Institute by this month to provide training to prosecution personnel including Public Prosecutors (PP), Assistant Public Prosecutors (APP), police officials, Minister for Law Tapan Chakraborty said here today. Speaking to reporters at the civil secretariat here today, Law Minister Chakraborty said that the state cabinet recently adopted an in-principle decision to start a Law Training Institute.
The High Court of Tripura is reported to have recently expressed interest to start a Judicial Academy for regular training of judicial officers, the minister said. He added that the Department is expecting to coordinate both issues with the High Court authorities and start both institutes by August.
“We have been trying to make both institutes operational since the last two months. The target was set in August”, he said.
Asked about proposed site for the Judicial Academy, the minister said that the government proposed a plot of land at Narsigarh. “We have also suggested that the third floor of the Tripura Government Law College could be used as temporary location for both institutions till locations are finalized”, the law minister said.
