AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, June 8 (TIWN) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Thursday dismissed allegations of its involvement in the heckling of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and flayed the Marxists for blaming it for the assault.
Yechury was on Wednesday manhandled by two activists of a pro-Hindutva outfit during a media conference in the national capital. The CPI-M had described the assault as "typical of the RSS methodology of seeking to browbeat and intimidate the opposition".
"It is matter of record that RSS does not support such anti-national elements nor such undemocratic method of subverting any lawful activity," said RSS Prachar Pramukh Manmohan Vaidya while condemning the "brazen attempt by undemocratic elements to disrupt the press conference".
"At the same time, RSS also condemns the baseless attempt of CPI-M to drag the name of RSS in this incident. This only indicates that CPI-M is scared and worried about the continuous and unabated growth and impact of RSS in Bharat," he said in a statement.
"On the contrary, RSS workers in Kerala are facing the brunt of communist style of undemocratic ways of subverting truth and communist style of hooliganism and lawlessness," he added.
