AGRTALA, June 7 (TIWN): The single woman Minister holding chair in Manik Sarkar’s cabinet Bijita Nath on Wednesday inaugurated one day refresher training on ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence, Act-2015’ at Pragna Bhawan.
The programme was conducted by Tripura Social Welfare Dept, when state’s crime record against women has crossed 85 %.
Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) Chairperson Manika Dutta Roy also remained present on that occasion.
Addressing the auditorium amidst women police troop, Bijita Nath said that even though rights are equal still the society has remained male-dominated leading the increasing violence against women.
TCW Chairperson Manika Dutta Roy expressed concerned about the increasing crime against women.
The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to protect women from domestic violence. It was brought into force by the Indian government from 26 October 2006.
