AGARTALA, Dec 16 (TIWN): To promote cashless and digital mode of transaction, the United Bank of India (UBI) here has decided to adopt two villages for setting up the basic infrastructure to introduce digital mode of economy.
According to officials, UBI will install all necessary facilities for 'less cash' transaction including launching of free wifi facilities in the markets and shops in Patunagar of Agartala and Sachindra Nagar colony under Jirania subdivision about 25 kms east of Agartala to facilitate e-payment.
"We have already made considerable progress in launching the facilities like mobile banking, united UPI, e-passbook and point of sale to help in the village of Patunagar; this will be operational very soon after our officers and employees give practical demonstration; the Sachindra Nagar colony village will be taken up for installing all facilities as also for physically demonstrating the working method a while later," said Mahendra Dohare, chief regional manager of UBI here.
