KAMALPUR, Dec 5 (TIWN): In a significant move against the cross-border illegal trade of different items, Kamalpur police nabbed two Bangladeshi citizens from the remote Bilaschara area with huge quantity of foreign liquors this noon. Police got the success around 1 pm acting on a tip-off got after continuous efforts of the information bureau of police.
For months together, police had information that, some Bangladeshi citizens were smuggling foreign liquor from the sub-divisional town of Kamalpur illegally through the border. However, BSF continued to deny the fact. Still police not lost hope and clung to the issue. And ultimately police got succeeded. Around 1 pm police nabbed two Bangladeshi citizens namely Binod Mia (25) and Hiren Mia (35) both from Sahitola under Moulavibazaar district of Bangladesh. They were taking 36 bottles of vodka in a gunny bag. On the spot they admitted that, they used to pass the border through Laxmanchari area.
However, police not yet arrived to the police station with the detained persons and yet to book them under respective case. Many hope that, this move of police would surely put some restrain on the cross-border smuggling.
