UDAIPUR, Oct 30 (TIWN): Business faced heavy losses at Matabari premise when sudden rain had hit Udaipur on Saturday. “The sudden rain was fully unpredictable and out of our thoughtsâ€, a businessmen told TIWN at there. Food shops, toy shops and other shops had to be closed down at a sudden when massive rain caused chaos at Udaipur. Thousands of devotees when were bus in buying items, enjoy the festival there, all of a sudden heavy rain started along with frequent thunders and there were no place to take shelter at Matabari, as the full area was full of crowd, reported TIWN on Saturday night. Moreover, the devotees started to ran suddenly resulting unmangable situation at there. However, police and other troops managed the situation well at there.“We wait for this day during the whole year. Since months we were preparing our items to sell on this Diwali at Matabari. But this rain damaged the hope alreadyâ€, a woman told TIWN who was selling earthen items as lamps, toys etc. “Hopefully next day our business may get better, if rain doesn’t come anymore hereâ€, she said.
While taking bytes, the volunteers at Matabari said, “Nature can betray anytime, but we were alert for that”. Talking to a local man he told TIWN, “The public have now no other option apart from sitting at home. Apart from Matabari people also go out in various temples, pandles on this occasion. But this rain has finally damaged the celebration here in Udaipur”.
The inconsistent rain began from the afternoon at Udaipur, Udaipur TIWN Correspondent reported. However, there was no sign of rain at the morning time and devotees thronged to the temple and offered prayers to Ma Tripura Sundari. But at the peak hour of the business rain hit all over, reported TIWN.
The capital city was almost unaffected by this rain although a light wave had come in the evening time. But the pandal inauguration and business remained unaffected here.
At Matabari, the stalls which the businessmen hired, are much costly. In this situation rain just as has betrayed the them. Udaipur City also massively suffered from rain during Durga Puja festival. Thus businessmen’s faces have turned bleak,especially for them who arranged their stalls at Matabari.
“Last year we had huge business and the profit was enough. Experiencing the last year, we have invested more for this Diwali. But fate betrayed heavily this time”,said a local shopkeeper to TIWN who was selling "Pera" for "Bhog".
