Agartala, May 17 (TIWN): The crisis of LPG cylinder seems to be neutralized shortly in Tripura as production began at Bishalgarh Gas Bottling Plant this morning, according to official sources.
The plant remained shut down for the past four days following strike by the LPG Bulk Association demanding immediate release of payment.
“Today, full-fledged operation began at Bishalgarh Gas Bottling Plant after the withdrawal of strike called by the LPG Bulk Association”, said an official of Food and Civil Supplies department.
On a normal day, the plant refills 15/16 trucks giving a boost to the LPG supply in the state.
However, the LPG crisis continues to haunt the state as the back log has touched almost a month despite crack down by the Food and Civil Supplies department recently.
At present there are approximately 45 gas distributors in the state which is having 3.40 lakh consumers. The state needs 2, 04,232 LPG cylinders (2900 MT) in each month.
In the capital town, there are 10 LPG outlets.
To address the crisis, the department in association with the Sadar administration has launched special drive against the illegal business of the LPG cylinders.
Around 15,000 consumers have both pipe gas connection and LPG connections. Following directive from the government, the administration wants to ensure one family one LPG connection.
There are allegations the IOC authority is not properly monitoring the supply of LPG cylinders even after severe crisis of LPG connection.
