Agartala, Sept23 (TIWN): A law and order meeting was held today at Dharmanagar Town Hall, of North Tripura district to discuss the security arrangements in connection with the upcoming Durga Puja Festival.
North Tripura, Superintendent of Police, Abhijit Saptarishi presided over the meeting. The SP briefed the representatives of Durga Puja Committees in and around Dharmanagar sub division regarding the model code of conduct, security arrangements and traffic restrictions planned for smooth conduct as well as safety and security of public.
He urged committee members to deploy volunteers and co-operate with police. Nagar Panchayat Chairperson also explained the steps taken by Nagar Panchayat for Durga Puja. Other government agencies like power department, hospital authorities, fire services will also play their role during this festival.
Representatives from various puja committees shared their views. It was informed that so far 208 Puja committees have registered with police throughout the District.
Addl. SP, SDPO of Dharmanagar and other officials of North District Police also attended the meeting for various Puja Committees in and around Dharmanagar. Nagar Panchayat Chairperson, officials from various Govt Departments associated with Puja arrangements along with office bearers of Puja Committees attended the meeting. Huge gathering is expected throughout the day and night from Shasthi till Dasahami especially in Town area.
