SONAMURA, May 30 (TIWN): Protesting against the transfer of a school teacher, the students of Shantinagar Secondary School at Dhanpur, under Sonamura subdivision has boycotted their classes.
According to the students their school is already suffering from teacher-shortage. In that condition transfer of teachers has caused major losses for them.
Students has locked the main gate of the school.
Shortage of teacher is prevalence in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary (+2) level.
Whereas the town areas schools are filled with extra number of teachers, the rural areas’ students are suffering every year due to teacher-shortage.
In Sonamura Subdivision many schools are reported with teacher shortage.
Although in town areas, Tripura schools have maximum number of teachers who are hardly engaged to more than 2 classes per day, but on the other hand many schools in rural Tripura are suffering due to teacher shortage.
But in many schools across ADC areas of Tripura, there are not even more than 2/3 teachers. As a result Education in those areas has remained as just for name-sake.
