AGARTALA / DHARMANAGAR, May 22 (TIWN): After the continuous raining since last few days, Dharmanagar railway station’s platform including many other newly constructed areas, have been damaged on Saturday night.
TIWN correspondents, during their spot visits at Dharmanagar, found that in many parts of the subdivision, the red-muddy soil has covered the railways tracks also, making them slippery in some parts.
However, talking to the workers on the spot, they mentioned that railway service would not be interrupted, as they are working day and night to re-shape the railway tracks.
As Tripura’s laterite-red soil easily becomes muddy after few splashes of rain, thus the chances of railway service disruption is high in future.
However, the platform collapsing is due to some other reasons too, allegedly due to the poor construction materials frequently used at the station work.
According to the sources, the new platform was constructed on the top of the old platform, i.e. anyhow they over layered it.
The condition of Dharmanagar rail-station’s platform can be considered as the worst station ever in Tripura.
