AGARTALA, May 15 (TIWN): Although the Agartala Airport Director visited the Kailashahar Aerodrome but till day no progress of work has seen observed yet.
Kailashahar aerodrome, located at Durgapur area under Kailashahar sub-division which was established with small aircraft service, now remained closed for many years due to lack of passengers and especially due to lack of intervention from the government.
According to the official reports, though initiatives are taking to commence the flight service on the soil of Kailashahar, but the authority reforms at snail pace.
According to the earlier reports, in the year 2011, aiming to reopen the flight service at Kailashahar Airport Authority of India had visited the airport.
However, the land of the airport has become a cattle grazing field.
With the initiation of the airport at Kailashahar, Unakoti district would have direct connectivity with Kolkata, Guwahati, South Assam and many other parts of the North-eastern region.
Besides, the commencement of the Kailashahar airport would also have reduced pressure on Agartala airport.
According to the sources, after the team of AAI have visited the airport, it has been noticed that the existing runway need to be expanded. Besides, all kinds on modern safety need to be installed to make the service better.
Lack of governmental intervention has ruined the up gradation work of the Kailashahar airport under Unakoti District.
It has been reported that earlier DM has submitted the Direct Project Report (DPR) with the state transport department for the up gradation of the Kailashahar Airport.
It is to be mentioned here that Airport Director of Agartala has already taken the reports. He was supposed to send report to New Delhi for the approval of the project. Once, the permission letter is granted than the authority can start with the full fledged renovation work.
