SANTIRBAZAR, May 14 (TIWN): Not only interior tribal localities even Nagar Panchayat wards in Tripura are facing acute drinking water crisis mainly causing during the dry season.
The drinking water and sanitation (DWS) department has arranged for supply of water by mobile tankers to help out distressed people.
More than 186 hamlets are suffering from drinking water shortage. Tankers to supply water to the affected localities are also continues.
But the situation remains the same as before. Officials stated that Santirbazar 3,4,5 Number are having Drinking Water crisis. Some cases of water borne diseases have been reported from the area.
Eruption of enteric disease and diarrhea are most common during dry spell in remote tribal localities of Santirbazar Sub Division. Drinking of contaminated water from the streams due to drying up of regular water sources have led to diseases resulting casualties.
DWS officers are constantly monitoring the situation and the appropriate measures taken. Officers and my department staffs have been requested not to take leave for now according South District officials.
