New Delhi / Agartala, May 14 (TIWN): The central government will start to launch a mechanism under which various developmental projects in the Northeastern states could be monitored through satellite images.
The monitoring has been proposed through a GIS cell, which will be established in the NEC Secretariat, in consultation with the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) located at Umiam, Meghalaya.
The NESAC is a registered society, set up as a joint initiative of the Department of Space (DoS) and NEC, for providing remote sensing-based natural resource information for application in the areas of education, healthcare, disaster management support and developmental communications.
NESAC is headed by the MoS (IC), M/o DoNER, in his capacity as Chairman, NEC, with representatives from Department of Space, the Governments of North Eastern States and the academia from NER. The funding of the NESAC Society is done through Grants-in-aid from DoS and NEC on 50:50 basis.
