Belonia, May 10 (TIWN): Local people of Ekinpur Gram Panchayat under Rajnagar RD Block are reportedly facing water scarcity for last couple of months. The situation prevailed as a mini deep tube well- the only source of water for altogether 36 families at Ekinpur Panchayat almost went out of order.

Though, the villagers informed the local block administration about the issue for several times, no initiative was made so far.

At such situation, he villagers are forced to walk for miles to bring a pot of water from bore wells and other sources of water as no other source of water is available at the Ekinpur.

Although the concerned authorities are claiming that they have taken steps to provide drinking water in rural areas, the villagers residing in different parts of the Block are also complaining about acute water shortage.

 The local women and girls walk upto 3 km to meet the demand of water. At the same time when scorching heat of summer is continuing to haunt the villagers, the severe crisis of water appeared as matter of concern, he said.  On the other hand, wherever water isavailable, due to power crisis pump sets remain idle and irrigation becomes impossible.
