AGARTALA, May 7 (TIWN): Although so many programmes are held on consumer rights with the initiative of the state Govt. here, but the local shop keepers are not at all bothered about the rules and regulations while they are selling the items.
Except few big shops which are providing cash vouchers-- in all the shops the price of cold drinks are much higher than the actual price.
The situation is continuing since 5 months, but the authority has no headache.
Asking the shop keepers the reason behind extra charge they said, “This is the freezing charge”, whereas in the bottle it’s clearly written that at Maximum its rate will be this or that.
As the custom of giving cash voucher to customers is unethical for Tripura, so the shop-keepers are looting publics at a stress.
If any customers argues for not to give the extra amount, then the shop-keepers do not sell the items to the purchaser.
As a result, across the whole state, unruly shopkeepers are freely imposing extra charges against every cold drink items.
If the cold drink’s MRP is 30 rupees, customers are bound to buy it with 35 rupees, but Tripura Sale Tax Dept. are neglecting the rising issue.
