SABROOM, May 7 (TIWN): Illegal importing of foreign liquor continues to practice unabashed in Sabroom South Tripura despite ban and constant checks.
Police seized worth of 1 Lakh foreign liquor from Sabroom Baikhaki Mela under Sabroom sub-division late night. In an anti-liquor drive, police of Sabroom police station seized 1000 bottles of foreign liquor from a Shop in Sabroom sub-division.
According to police, during the raids, the maximum bottles of foreign liquor were recovered .Acting on a tip-off Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sabroom police station 4 unholy Shop Keepers arrested. The value of seized liquor has been estimated to be an amount of Rs. 1 lakh. However, police could not arrest the main accused.
Everyday huge numbers of foreign liquor enters Tripura from Bangladesh illegally. Seldom police are able to catch this but most of the time the smugglers escaped.
