AGARTALA, April 25 (TIWN) : In a recent intelligence report, it has been mentioned that the Sonamura subdivision is becoming the centre for all ISIS intrusions in Tripura, which is increasing the terror among the common public in Tripura. Reportedly, Sonamura subdivision is the epicentre for all illegal activities,drug smuggling to massive ganja cultivations, entire subdivision has become a threat for the safety of people. However, taking the advantage of porous Indo-Bangla border, Bangladeshbased HUJI, ISIS, fundamentalist elements are building their bases in Sonamura.Sonamura, Boxnagar areas are known for organized ganja cultivations, drug smugglings, even helping out militant factions like NLFT, ATTF with arms.As per local sources, three Bangaldesh / Sonamura based radicals Taimur, Rahim & Khokon are setting up the ISIS base , collecting funds in spite of large BSF presence across border.Sources said that Tripura’s Sonamura, Baskanagar, Melaghar and Bishalgarh are the main focus areas of Bangaladesh based Islamic terrorist groups.
Last month an ISI agent was nabbed from Agartala airport.
The suspect agent Faruq Ahmed aged 26 was nabbed with incriminating papers. A team of special branch officials laid a trap while Ahmed was obtaining a boarding pass to Calcutta.
Reportedly, between 2013-16, Central and State government top intelligence sleuths arrested 46 Pakistani agents.
This time the intelligence wing within the Tripura state police arrested a suspected Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent from Agartala airport.
Police and administrations special focus is needed to get a control over the situation.
