AGARTALA, April 10 (TIWN): Tripura Government has decided to introduce computer education in 200 primary schools across the state from this academic session.
Education minister said that in addition to sports, cultural activities, physical exercise and yoga, the government has decided to make computer lessons compulsory at the elementary level in a phased manner.
Earlier Tripura government was unable to continue the job of computer teachers.Earlier computer classes were introduced in 100 rural schools by outsourced agencies who received funding from the central government. But in many cases, the agencies did not function in a manner that was above board and did recruit teachers properly.
This resulted in the discontinuation of the programme .” As the first step, we are introducing it in 200 selected schools," Chakraborty added.He, however, pointed out that the government will soon appoint computer instructors for the 200 schools and the Centre has agreed to fund the salaries of teachers and the procurement of computers.
