The Temple is immortalised in two of Rabindranath Tagore's plays – namely Rajarshi and Bisharjan. Travelling just 55 km from the capital city Agartala.
The temple of Bhubaneswari at Tripura was built by Maharaja Govinda Manikya, is located near the old Royal palace of Maharaja Govinda Manikya constructed during 1660-1675 A.D.
However, there is no statue of Goddess inside it, but in stories it’s written that once Bhuwaneswari statue was there.
