KAILASHAHAR, July 9 (TIWN): Awareness cum sensitization programme has been organized by (DDRC) District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (North), sponsored by National Institute for the Orthopedically Handicapped, Kolkata on 8th July, 2015 at DDRC, Kailashahar.
During the programme, a total of 45 Persons with Disabilities under various categories were provided 4 blind sticks, 10 wheel chairs, 6 tri –cycles, 2 walking sticks, 1 Elbow crutch, 3 pairs Auxiliary crutch and 20 Hearing Aids under ADIP scheme, Government of India.
These beneficiaries were pre-identified during the assessment camp, organized by DDRC (North) at different place under undivided North Tripura.
In this connection an awareness programme was also organized at DDRC where around 60 PwDs including their guardians and parents attended the programme. P& O Professional officer of NIOH, Kolkata A. P. Patra focused on rehabilitation and ADIP scheme and also highlighted on various projects of Central government towards uplifting the livelihood of PwDS.
Media Officer Himanshu Kr. Srivastava, Social Worker Nayan Roy Chaudhuri and Extension Service Officer from NIOH, Kolkata Abhijit Ghosh attended the Programme also shared their views relating disability ground. Haresh Pal Chaudhuri, Nodal Officer in his welcome speech highlighted the various facilities provided by DDRC as well as the purpose of the camp.
Mentionable, all the dignitaries and Kanti lal Dey, Vice Councillor of Kailashahar Municipality council distributed Aids and Appliances to the Persons with Disabilities.
