BELONIA, July 8 (TIWN): With the initiatives of the Belonia Police Station on Wednesday, 200 saplings as a part of Van Mahotsav were planted at premises of the Police Station.
“Trees are an important part of every community. Trees increase our quality of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into urban settings”, said the Dignitaries while addressing the programme.
They said that our responsibility does not end here with the plantation of saplings but also we need to take care of the saplings till they grow and form a tree, said the dignitaries.
They also said that without plant our life is nothing. If there is plant, there is life.
The programme was inaugurated after BMC Chairman Dipankar Sen and SP Bhanupada Chakraborty jointly planted sapling of Amrapali.
Van Mahotsav, annual tree-planting festival, is being celebrated in India by planting new tree saplings. The festival was started in the year 1950 by the Ministry for Agriculture. Every year, under the patronage of various state governments, millions of saplings are planted all across India during the celebration.
It was started to create awareness in the mind of the people for the conservation of forests and planting of new trees.
