KHOWAI, July 5 (TIWN): In a terrifying incident, a massive fire gutted six houses to ashes near Shonatola Higher Secondary School on Friday mid-night. The massive fire broke out due to ill fitted electric wiring which led to short circuit, confirmed an official of Fire Service.
The fire broke out at around 1. 30 AM, though no injuries were reported but the family lost around Rs. 8 lakh in the incident, said official.
The official said that the fire destroyed all valuable items in these six houses including the domestic households. He couldn’t give any statistics about losses incurred due to the fire.
Huge amount of gold were also destroyed in the fire, said victim Kanai Shil.
Detailing about the incident the victim Kanai said that the fire tenders reached the spot and situation was brought under control soon but the affected houses were way beyond saving.
The fire was first noticed by Kanai’s elder son Chayan Shil. Getting alarm about the fire, the neighbour rushed to the spot and tried to control the massive fire. The Fire Service crew reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
However, the Police is set on high alert and investigating the case.
