AGARTALA, April 25 (TIWN): A high magnitude earthquake hits Northeast India and Nepal region around 1141 hrs of Indian Standard Time on Saturday.
According to Central Seismic Observatory in Shilllong, the intensity of the tremor was recorded 7.5 rector scale. And the epicenter was Himalayan hills of Nepal region.
However, there is no report of any causality so far in the state.
The tremor lasted for about 30 seconds. The seven northeastern states - Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur - are considered as the sixth major earthquake-prone belt in the world.
The region experienced an earthquake measuring 8.7 on the Richter scale in 1897 followed by at least nine more high magnitude earthquake last 120 years.
