AGARTALA, April 24 (TIWN): In yet another act of reckless driving by Maruti car driver in the city one 10 year old boy was seriously injured in a road mishap at Ashram Chowmuhani on Friday at around8 am.

According to police, the boy was identified as Rajdeep Debnath (10) son of Rajib Debnath resident of Dhaleswar. While crossing the road along with his bicycle one Maruti car bearing number TR01-A-P0508 dashed the boy at Ashram Chowmuhani. As a result the boy suffered several injuries on his body. And he was immediately shifted to GBP hospital for treatment where in the attending doctors said that the condition of the boy was critical.

After getting the information police personnel from East Agartala Police Station rushed to the spot and arrested the accused driver namely Mithun Deb (25) resident of Chandrapur. He will be produced before the court on April 24, said police.

A specific case has been registered in this regard and investigation is still on, police added.

According to official report, altogether 2581 road mishaps occurred in the last three financial years including 901 road accidents in the financial year 2012 ­12, 855 accidents in the year 2013 ­14 and 363 more road mishaps in the year 2014 till date.
