Agartala, April 22 (TIWN): According to Forest Right Act the tribal families who got “pattas†((land deeds-land rights) should get additional 50 – days of work from MGNREGA. Union Ministry of Rural Development had issued order in this regard to all state governments.
However till date the ordered was not implemented in the CPI(M) ruled state, nobody knows when will be the order implemented. When due to irregularities and delay in payment of MGNREGA wages there are report of untoward incidents across the state. Meanwhile, Tripura Gramin Sramik Union is raising the issue at tribal areas ahead of TTAADC poll.
According to the Act, after getting 100 days of work tribal families covered under the FRA should be given additional 50 days of work. The order was issued on January, 2014. Only Dhalai district tired to implement the order partially,remaining district failed to implement the center’s order.
An official of state rural department said due to non availability of fund the order could not be implemented in the state. However serious resentment is brewing among the FRA patta holders for non implementation of the order.
Tripura ranks first in India for providing land deeds to tribals under the forest rights act with 1.5 lakhs families benefiting since 2008.Tribals living in forests for decades are eligible for 'patta') under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006.
