AGARTALA, April 12 (TIWN): The Tripura Olympic Association (TOA) organized their annual general meeting at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas on Saturday.

Member of Parliament Jitendra Chouwdhury and others were present in the annual general meeting.

While TOA has most sports bodies under its wing, it does not have IOC affiliation. The TSOA, on the other hand, has IOC affiliation but it does not enjoy the support of most sports bodies. 

It is to be mentioned here that the TOA, which was formed in 1973, is a story of failures though it enjoyed the support of maximum number of sports bodies. It was virtually a non functional body without IOC affiliation since 1988. But two years ago, the Tripura State Olympic Association (TSOA) was formed. Many found it a political decision that TSOA soon managed the affiliation from Indian Olympic Association headed by Suresh Kamadi. The affiliation was given to the TSOA despite the fact that it has only three or four recognized sports bodies under its wings.
