AGARTALA, April 11 (TIWN): Governor P.B. Achariya and Chief Minister Manik Sarkar greet people of the state on the eve of Biju festival, Bengali New Year and Garia Puja.
In his message, Chief Minister expresses about the observance of these festivals spirit of unity, integrity and brotherhood will bond more strongly among the people of the state. Besides that the upcoming Bengali New Year will bring happiness, prosperity and wealth for the people - CM further added.
While Governor on His greeting told that Bengali New Year means feelings of culture where, there is no difference among the people belonging to all caste, creed and religion. Governor hoped that this New Year will bring the message of peace and harmony. We should engage ourselves to maintain the environment of peace and harmony- Governor further added.
Meanwhile, Chakma community, an ethnic tribe celebrated Biju festival, a three day long festival that concludes on the day of Bengali New Year, amid food, festivities and hospitality. "It is a festival of celebration, happiness and you know a celebration of fervor, spreads the message of brotherhood, amity and unity. Basically this is the new year of Chakma community.
The Bengali New Year celebration is popularly known as 'Poila Baisakh'. It is the first day of the Bengali New Year, which usually falls in mid-April every year.
