AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): A total of 36 nomination papers has been submitted on Wednesday for the general election to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) declared to be held on May 3, 2015.
Talking to TIWN on Wednesday Secretary for Election Commission Tamal Majumder said that on Wednesday CPI (M) has submitted 5 nomination papers, BJP filed 4, INPT filed 10, IPFT filed 12, others filed 1and independent party filed another 1 nomination papers.
Besides, talking to TIWN today Congress Chief Birajit Sinha said that congress would start the procedure of filing nomination papers from April 9 and would be completed on April 10, while the CPI (M) eyes to complete it by April 9.
However, filing of nominations began from Saturday and it would continue till April 11. A total of 758,554 electors, including 375,117 women, are eligible to vote. Of the 30 seats, 28 are filled through direct election and two members are nominated by the government. Twenty seven seats are reserved for tribals.
The last date for submission of nomination papers is April 11. Nomination can be withdrawn till April 16. Election to the 28-member Tripura ADC will be held on May 3. The votes will be counted on May 6. The whole election process will be completed by May 10.
