Agartala, April 7(TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is scheduled to attend to NEC council meet and meet Politburo on April 9 and 10.
The North Eastern Council (NEC) will meet in New Delhi on April 9 and 10 to discuss the funding of various projects in the region, an official said on Wednesday.
NEC spokesman Suresh K. Vatta told over telephone from New Delhi that this would be its second meeting after Narendra Modi became the prime minister in May last year. The first meeting was held in January.
The NEC was set up to act as an advisory body in respect of socio-economic and balanced development of the northeastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.
Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Jitendra Singh, who is chairman of NEC, would preside over the meeting.
Officials would meet on April 9. Chief ministers of the eight states would attend the next day.
The NEC, born in 1972, mainly funds infrastructure in the northeastern states.
