AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): Along with the whole nation the state Tripura started National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Drive (NERPAD) campaign and would be completed in August this year.
The Election Commission has launched a nation-wide programme - National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme to ensure an error free voter list. The programme kicked off here in Tripura from April 1.
As part of the campaign, an awareness programme would be held on April 12 at Sonamura Sub-Division. The programme would be held at 4 constituencies under the sub division. However, in a press communique today the BLOs were requested to extend their helping hand towards the campaign programme.
Earlier Tripura State Chief Election commissioner (CEO) S.K. Rakesh said, “"Transfer of one voter, from one constituency to another, even from one state to the other will be very simple. Once this Aadhaar number comes in that duplicate voters issue will be solved forever. We have decided that we will run a campaign to involve all the Aadhar number in the voter list. Along with Aadhaar number, the voter will be allowed to connect the phone number and e-mail ID also. This is a little futuristic also because it will allow the voters to directly connect with the Election Commission to inform about change in address and other things by using the One-Time-Password facility."
The initiative, Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Drive (ERPAD), to be launched across all 676 districts, is proposed to be completed by August 15.
