AGARTALA, April 7 (TIWN): Eight courts designated as Special Courts in state. The newly designated 8 special courts are; the Courts of Sessions Judge in West Tripura Judicial District, Agartala, Unakoti Judicial District, Kailashahar, North Tripura Judicial District, Dharmanagar, Gomati Judicial District, Udaipur, South Tripura Judicial District, Belonia along with the Courts of Additional Sessions Judge in Unokoti Judicial District, Kailashahar, West Tripura Judicial District, Khowai and West Tripura Judicial District, Sonamura.
According to sources, the state government in consultation with the Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura recently designated 8 courts of state as special courts to try all cases under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005.
According, to a gazette notification of Law Department, vide No. F.2 (5)-LAW/ESTT.2/2010 (Part)/3/51-3200 dated March 28, this year, the decision was adopted in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (1) of Section 28 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and section 25 of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005 with immediate effect.
