Two day long 2nd Tripura Tribal Cultural Heritage Meet begins

AGARTALA, February 27 (TIWN): The two day long 2nd “Tripura Tribal Cultural Heritage Meet†was jointly organized by ONGC, Tripura Asset, Agartala and (Non-Government Organization) NGO Kwtal Langma Bodol at Nazrul Kala Khsetra, here today. The “Tripura Tribal Cultural Heritage Meet†will continue till February 28th. Minister for Home (Jail), Tribal Welfare (TRP & PTG) and GA (P&S), Government of Tripura inaugurated the meet.
The 2nd “Tripura Tribal Cultural Heritage Meet†showcased costumes and traditional dance forms of a total of 19 different tribes across the state.
The two-day long exhibition was made open to people without charging any fee.
Addressing in the inaugural ceremony ONGC Asset Manager V P Mahawar said that the ONGC has taken the initiative to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous people of the state.
He further said that ONGC regularly supports various initiatives to preserve indigenous culture under CSR and this initiative will provide a platform to the local performers of the state to hone their skills.
After the inaugural ceremony models dressed in traditional attires of their respective tribes walked the ramp. People got a chance to sample the rich cultures of different tribes of the state.
The audience was enthralled by traditional dances of tribes like Reang, Chakma, Jamatia, Kaloi, Lusai and Uchoi.
The first edition of Tripura Tribal Cultural Heritage Meet was held last year and was immensely popular.
