AGARTALA, Dec 12 (TIWN): Churaibari police on Thursday arrested four women, who are residents of Bihar, with drugs. The arrested women – Mangli Debi (28), Kabita Debi (35), Anita Debi (38), Sutar Kumari (30) were caught red-handed while carrying drugs in Haflong resident Sandip Malakar’s Alto car. Police also detained the driver for interrogations.
During a regular routine checking at Tripura-Assam naka point, police found 20 KG ganja from the vehicle bearing number TR05B–0314 which were attempted to be taken out of the state. According to police, the seized items would be at least Rs. 6 Lakh of worth.
Debabrata Biswas, Churaibari PS Office In-Charge said, the drug peddler very cleverly hid the drugs inside the bag. “Surely, all five of the detainees are connected with drug smuggling,” said Biswas.
Police also suspect the ganjas were targeted to be taken to Bihar via Assam-Agartala route.
An NDPS case was registered against the arrested people.
