AGARTALA, Aug 11 (TIWN): On Monday, aspirants for Fire Services positions submitted a memorandum appealing to the authority to examine the interviews held in 2023. The job aspirants gathered at the Fire Brigade head office in Agartala, demanding a speed-up of the recruitment process. The unemployed youth also cited a shortage of staff in the Fire Department, referring to Truck Driver Mihirlal Debnath's death, which occurred due to the failure of emergency response. Talking to the media, a job aspirant said, “The notice for Fire Services recruitment was issued in 2022, March, and in phases, physical tests were taken in all eight districts. We passed the physical test, and in 2023, January, we completed the written examination.”
“The written examination result was still pending when the government canceled the exams. But there is no solution yet. All we want is the completion of the recruitment process, as it’s been three years since the government was unable to complete the process,” he added.
“Not only fire service but also in the police department, recruitments are slow, which includes jail police,” he mentioned.
“In the recent death of Mihirlal Debnath, it was seen that an official was given three shifts, and in such a case, how will a person perform with three shifts?” he questioned.
“So many times, we have been appealing for a solution. Meanwhile, officers are transferred, and we met different officers at different times, but our issue is not solved,” he expressed.
“We don’t want to create disturbance repeatedly. We do not want to come here, but we are here to push the recruitment. This department is sending us to another department, but where should we go?” he emphasized.
